Mutts For Moms: Ripping off the rich, making children cry
In case you have been under a rock for the past couple of days this is worth reading. Essentially, the talk show host Ellen DeGeneres adopted a little doggie. She likes animals and forked out three grand for this little pooch that looks less than ten pounds total. So essentially she paid $300 per pound for a stray. Those that can, will while the rest of us adopt from cheaper sources.
Ellen forked out the cash and she got a dog. The dog didn't play well with their cats, so rather than dump the dog somewhere found a good home with someone she trusted. The mob front Mutts for Moms, said "No dice, you paid to keep the dog, if you want your friend to keep the dog they are going to have to pay, and since you are famous, you all should have to pay a lot.
Ellen cried, the children cried, the viewers at home cried, and I got pissed off with tears. It is my opinion that these so called "pet rescuers" need some rescuing themselves.

I think Ellen is one of my favorite people, but this is ridiculous. Reading more about it and watching interviews with the rescue shelter owner makes me realize that there truly are two sides to every story. Those owners have been crucified for an initial decision to stand by a policy that was clearly understood by Portia de Rossi when she signed paperwork. It sickens me that Ellen's fans would be so cruel to people who in the long run are doing their part to save animals who would otherwise be dead. Their policy is based on past experiences. Their sole purpose is to keep animals safe. Couldn't Ellen have handled this better off-camera? These rescue shelter owners don't have the money or means to defend themselves from the public onslaught of outrage. Outrage that could be better placed.

America is bored.
Lets make with some Generic Threat of Bodily Harm. Don't worry, we'll lose interest quick enough.
Lose interest in what?

You're absolutely right that America's bored. It's because America is lazy and stupid. We've got no attention span, as you noted, and we don't give a damn about anyone other than ourselves. Oh, and celebrities. You know, even with celebrities, there are some of them out there doing amazing work with their talent, and we stayed glued to news about Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears--two women turning back the clock on feminist work daily. It makes me sick, but what will I do? The same thing I always do: bitch and moan, then go drink some coffee...

Right on all counts.
Here's to you Becky, as I raise my cup of coffee happy in the realization that I am surrounded by kick ass women.
