Playoff #1 Phoenix @ Queens

Its Tarzan hot in the Queen City tonight! The Phoenix having been defeated on this very field two weeks ago are hungry to make things right. The winner tonight goes off to the second round of playoffs, the loser goes home. Both teams want this. Both teams need this. It doesn't matter who wins this game tonight, the rest of the playoffs will likely be easier. That's the way it goes when the league organizes their playoffs by geography rather than seeding. Most of the teams in the league don't have the budgets to make long road trips, Queens and Phoenix included, so this was a necessary work around.

Phoenix will receive 9:12 left in the 1st the Phoenix sneaks for a short run TD. 2 point conversion fails, Phoenix lead 6 - 0. The Phoenix are starting strong today, Coach Holmes has clearly been doing his homework.

4:16 left in the first, Phoenix does it again, 2 point conversion is no good, Phoenix lead the Queens 12 to nothing. This is the Phoenix I know and love!

4:07 left in the half, the Phoenix put another across the goal line, two point conversion fails again, but that's OK, the Phoenix still lead 18 to nothing!

Halftime, Phoenix lead 18 to the Queens 0 finally it is cooling off out here. I thought I was going to roast on the roof of this press box.
12:40 in the third quarter, the Queens complete their first pass, the conversion is good, the Queens put 8 on the scoreboard.

9:17 in the 3rd, Air Phoenix lets one fly for a 40+ yard touch down pass. 2 Point conversion is good, The Carolina Phoenix 26, Queens 8.

I just saw the play of the game. Queens pass, it tips off of the fingers of their receiver. Phoenix intercept and run for 20 hard yards, there's a pile up. Queens recover, pretty much at the original line of scrimmage!

13:33 in the 4th quarter, the Queens pass 25 yards, and run it the other 40 for a great big touch down. Credit where credit is due, there is nothing you'll see in Austin as great as what you'll see here tonight at West Charlotte High. Conversion is good, Phoenix 26, Queens 16.

Phoenix long great TD run called back for holding. That's what you get for holding.

At the buzzer the final score is the Carolina Phoenix 26, Carolina Queens 16. The Phoenix advance into the second round of the IWFL championships. One more win, and its Austin Texas for the finals!! Gooooo Phoenix!

Carolina Phoenix VS Carolina Queens (again)

Its hot in the Queen City, and I don't just mean the rematch between two very well matched and high caliber teams. The Sun is beating down at West Charlotte High School.

Last time these two teams met, the Phoenix won the game in the first 23 seconds with a touchdown that neither side could improve upon the entire night. Both sides have been working hard getting ready for this rematch. If the Phoenix win again, it will be an undefeated season and a lock on the first place position going into the playoffs. If the Queens win, it will mean that they have tied the Phoenix with wins and losses going into Playoffs. Either way, with both team's home colors being Red, Yellow and Black it sends a clear message across the IWFL, Carolina is a name to respect in Women's football.

Phoenix will receive. Airplane shadow crossed the field just before the national anthem it was cool.

Queens starting strong on the defense. Phoenix defense is always strong, but the Queens out the gate are looking stronger. The battle is going up and down the field, the Queens offense is more consistent, but the Phoenix offense makes bigger gains.

1:04 left in the first quarter the Queens break out up the middle for a big run for a 60+ yard TD. Conversion is good, Queens draw first blood. 8 - 0.

13:57 in the 2nd a Phoenix punt carried for great yardage by the Queens sets them up for a TD, extra point is no good, Queens 14 Phoenix 0. This is the first time the entire season the Phoenix were behind by 2 TD's.

It was about the last 8 minutes of the first half when Air Phoenix started delivering completions. They even delivered one to the Queens.

1:30 left in the half, the Queens show everyone what long pass completions looks like. It looks like being all alone scoring a touch down. Conversion was a freebie, Queens 22, Phoenix still in the full and upright shut out position.

Many thanks to the announcer who did an excellent PSA on the effects of cocaine abuse.

8:12 in the 3rd quarter Queens run for 60 or so yards to make it 30 to nothing, or as the guy in the booth said, "She's run over 300 yards so far this game!!!" He's on his second 8 ball, but he may be right.

2:38 in the 3rd Quarter, the Phoenix decide to see what scoring feels like. Conversion is full of win. Queens 28 Phoenix 8.
The Queens staff is telling the scorekeeper to run the clock, but they are winning, so the referees aren't having it. It could be an unfair advantage.

5:43 in the 4th an AMAZING Phoenix pass and run brings the Phoenix up to 14. Apparently if the Queens lead by 16 they can have their first playoff at home.

OMFG 50 yard touchdown pass by the Phoenix! 1:50 left in the game. Queens 28, Phoenix 20

1:15 in the Game the Queens answer with a 30 yard TD pass. Conversion is good. Queens now lead by 16.

Some exciting Phoenix plays at the end of the game, but too little too late, Queens bring the revenge by winning 36 to 20 against the Phoenix.

If you've missed the excitement of seeing the Queens and the Phoenix play, come on out to Charlotte June 27th to see them play again in the first round of the play offs. I hear the competition between the Queens and the Phoenix is so strong that next year they will only play each other so the other teams can have a chance at good seasons.
