The Squish

The squash are squished. :(  I'm not certain what killed them.  I noticed that they started looking a bit droopy, so I started watering them.  One of them perked up for a little while, but it eventually succumbed as well.

The first of the Lolipop tomatoes might be ripe now.  They weren't quite ripe yesterday, and I haven't been out to check on them yet today.

The zucchini plants are blooming, but I haven't seen a zucchini yet.

I think one of the cucumbers died.  I thought it had revived itself, but it looks pretty brown again.  The other one is not climbing up the bamboo pole.  It is latching on to the grass that's growing around it, but I think that maybe its little tendrils are too small to wrap around the bamboo.

The watermelon is about the size of a volleyball now.

I pulled one of the Kyoto Red carrots yesterday.  It's tiny.  I think there are two problems: The dirt is too full of clay for the carrots to grow through, and I didn't thin them out so they're growing too close together.  I hated the idea of killing some of the seedlings, so I didn't do it.  I could try moving the seedlings like I did with the mustard, but that still doesn't solve the dirt problem.  I think I might have to grow my root veggies in containers until I improve my garden soil to the point where it's not so full of clay.

The volunteer tulsi is growing along in the front flower bed and it smells wonderful. ^_^  I also discovered another re-seeded dill seedling in that bed, so there are two now.

I think it's time to harvest the garlic - it has bloomed, and it's starting to dry out, so I guess that means it's done. (I hope so, anyway!)

Because of the time I had been a freshman and residing in Stalnaker Corridor around the downtown campus, OMF was shut and only useful for impromptu contact football games. Or sunlight bathing.

I declare before you all that my whole life, whether it be long or short, shall be devoted to your service and the service of ou

Wow! Thank you! I always needed to write on my site something like that. Can I include a fragment of your post to my site?

I had been planning exactly the same thing whilst encountering this short article as well as wondered in cases where anyone else had exactly the same issues?

Victory goes to the player who makes the next-to-last mistake.

Dave Barry, a living legend, will sub for the missing Thurber essays:

that understanding doesn't lessen our anger at not being able to comment on every post at what we had considered to be our community's blog.

We will be sending money since we don't know what else to send and that will allow them to decide what needs to be bought

Mailing a paper copy of the export license will not be required to be reported in the AES. In this case, the paper copy of the export license, as you state "the printed matter" would not be valued over $2,500 and would not be required to be reported in the AES.

"Caucasian", "Negroid", "Hispanic" and "Asian" are some of the many races. White, Brown, Black, etc, are colors. We are not colors. We are an ethnically diverse people. I was born in this country, as were my ancestors, back 5 generations on one side, and 3 on another. I think of myself as an AMERICAN, not as "British-American", "African-American", "Asian-American" or "Hispanic-American". I agree with the previous comments... RACE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS!!! And I too am totally disgusted by the fact that question #5 IN BOLD, places the Hispanic race above everyone else. If this isn't a racist tact, then what is? This is foul play, folks! There was NO NEED for this question to even BE on the 2010 US Census. Who made this terrible decision to place this question on the Census, to word it in this way, and to situate it where it is? It is one thing to seek out the demographics of the nation, but it is quite another to foment the perception of inequality and racism, in our own homeland, on our own soil! SHAME ON YOU!!!

We need to know the Race, Because people using the statistics prefer to live with their own race. Like my Family we don't want to move somewhere that the majority of the race is oposite of ours. We want to feel safe and comfortable. By knowing the race populaton then we know whether or not it will be a safer town or not. By the way, Segragation is natural to us we do it without laws that mandate it, Blacks go to black churches and live in hoods and go to black schools and black colleges. White folk live mainly in rural safe areas and go to white churches and attend white colleges. So yes race is important

I also installed a mobile theme, which looks pretty good from my iPhone.

Given that the exact phrase "for the purpose, among others, of" has been well attested for more than two hundred years, I don't think anyone could argue that "for the purpose of" necessarily means "for the sole purpose of". The article tries to imply that the prosecutors' case would require "for the purpose of" to mean "for a purpose of", but that's simply not how the words "the" and "a" work; it's obvious that "the purpose of ___" does not imply that no other purposes exist, just as "the tall man" does not imply that no other men exist. I think that the "the"/"a" question is really a red herring. The same question could be posed with an expression like "for fun": if a law forbade contributions that were made "for fun", would that imply that it only forbade contributions that were made "just for fun", or would it imply that it forbade any contributions where fun was a motivating factor? (As Jon Weinberg says, the real question is legislative intent.)

With the restructuring, will there be additional openings for field reps? If so, will RO staff be in line for those positions first? I worked in the local office in downtown Chicago and would certainly be interested in a field position if available.

Would I like to have done a parachute jump? Yes: I would feel so proud.

I the efforts you have put in this, thank you for all the great articles.

thanks for reading and sure you can repost it on your site, just link back to me that's all. i know this reply is super late but if you still want to you can repost.

We have 2 bikes and I use mine almost everyday, mainly because the distance between my home and work is around 7 miles and it is quite easy this way.

Ruben Polo-Sherk: Thanks, I missed this and now feel foolish. But, when the serious is absurd, how do we identify satire?

Jennifer,
The article you cite is from three months ago and discusses many of the cuts we initiated in order to fund higher priority programs, like the Economic Census. We're now at a different point in the budget process where the House Appropriations Committee has proposed deeper cuts. These cuts mean we cannot do all the work the Congress has asked us to do, which would force us to cancel major programs.

I have heard of VO2 and VO2 max before but never VO2 Kinetics, interesting .
Thanks

I will fill the Census form out on April 1st so that only people living on that date are counted.

I've seen The Descendants twice 'cause I liked it even better the second time. That's probably because I can identify myself (unfortunately) with the character of Clooney, Matt King.
I want to thank you for taking the time and effort to write this post.

Though we need to promote obtaining a higher educational degree to all, as the more educated our citizens are, it benefits everyone from the individual to our country as a whole, we need to promote more degrees in Science, Engineering & MATH or we will fall behind the other countries in our world!
I agree with Andre...why isn't Colorado mentioned as above 40%
Also agree with Larry...Math degrees are extremely important also

Can someone explain to me why these don't become unreleased /t/'s? How can you tell whether a word employs a glottal stop or an unreleased /t/ in SAE?

It is now the second half of May and I still see the March to the Mailbox signs in the area. Are they suposed to be removed sometime by someone?

I found your blog on Google and I have to say I am impressed. Keep up the great work!

A really great collection! Will take me some time to download them all!

For me, the following site is easier to read than babynamewizard, and it has pretty much the same stuff

Does your race affect your use of federal highways? Is there a separate tax rate table depending upon whether your ancestors came from Europe or Africa? I think not. Counting heads can be accomplished by individual cities & towns and accumulated stats can thens be reported at a state level.

Only wanna comment that you have a very nice web site , I love the style it really stands out.

My landlady is out of town, so I cannot speak to her about it, but before she went away, she stated she was not going to fill out the census report as it was some kind of governmental conspiracy to get information about people and use it against them.
I tried to explain to her it had to do with how much money communities received from the Federal Govt. but she would have none of it.
Is there a way that I can get a form to fill out? There are up to 12 people living here at one time. None of us has received a form or been included in the Census, can you direct me to a source for completion?

The area was severely damaged but waterfront property is still a hot commodity in the area. You never know when a disaster will strike so for some people it's not worth worrying about it an living inland when they can be enjoying themselves on the waterfront

Hi,
I'm interested in pet application for commercial purposes. Actually I'm working as a freelancer doing AR applications for PC but customers (Spanish-Chinesse association) want IPhone applications too.
If you or your commercial company associated is interested please contact me at this email and Ill tell full description of the idea.

Real good information can be found on website.

Enjoyed looking at this, very good stuff, appreciate it.

Thank God I found this discussion. I was so angry at Ms Acocella that I had started to write my very own letter to the editor. I'm very relieved to learn that better minds (and pens) than mine have undertaken this rebuttal. I hate how any twit who speaks a language automatically considers themselves a linguist (I love the gender neutral plural btw, and have not shied away from teaching it as tomorrow's standard English to my ESL students)...

I received my first form in mid March, 2010, two weeks before I could HONESTLY answer the questions. (I did not KNOW the answers until April 1, 2010 because it was still two weeks into the FUTURE at the time.) I answered all questions and put the form into the mailbox for the mailman to pick up ON April 1, 2010. When picking up the mail after he left, I found a SECOND form, identical to the first. Why did you bother to send the first one? You spent TWICE the taxpayer money on this project than was necessary? Come on, government, hire some people to create your forms that don't ask questions based on the future. Dumb! Really Stupid!!

Some truly nice and useful information on this internet site, too I believe the style contains superb features.
