Trouble in Jena, Louisiana

Did you guys know about this?

I vaguely remember something being mentioned briefly in the news a year ago, but it was so watered down that it sounded like it was being taken care of (and not in that mob boss kind of way either). Now I read this?

I have to tell you, not only am I pissed that this happened in the first place, but I am horrified that this hasn't gotten more news coverage. Of all times for the news organizations to become hounds, now would be the time - why aren't they? Shouldn't they be all over this? What in the hell is going on?

Try to be funny without being mean

Yeah - that isn't easy. I have seen some comedians do it beautifully. However, I recognize that I am not really funny and now I have to live this... *sigh*

There are few people, I have noticed, that have achieved funny while writing on the net without being mean. One of the problems with writing something on the net (and one of the reasons why I edit myself - see a couple of posts back) is that you never know who is reading your stuff or how they may take it.

After writing the post about living in a cube - I got an email from a co-worker who was apologizing for being loud... coincidence? maybe - but it made me self conscious enough that I took it down. Even though I wrote it with a little bit of tongue in cheek, I realized that if one (or many) of my coworkers WERE to see it, they could take it in a direction that it was not intended.

So now, this leads me to the next question, how do I - purveyor of the unfunny, write in a manner that is witty and about stuff that people will actually want to read? I guess I could start writing about the stuff that occurs in my life - but again - read the above dilemma regarding the cubes... *shrug*

I guess this leads me into actually thinking about the direction I want to take this little piece of electronic real estate...

Pretty, but brutal movie

Saw Pan's Labyrinth last night. It was good - but NOT a children's movie. It is considered a fantasy movie, but it is brutal. So - don't grab this movie thinking it's a family movie that you and your brood can snuggle down to watch cute critters scutter across the screen. The brutality is real world violence, not fantasy violence, either - so that kind of makes it worse...

Dusted it off without thinking

yep. that about says it all...
I have started writing several different entries, but have quickly filed them away under the category of "hmmm... this isn't ready yet..."

I have known for several years that I have had this issue with "editing" myself, meaning that I have this thing where I "over think" what I write or what I say. That being said - I don't know how much I will actually write and publish verses how much I will write.

*shrug* we'll just have to see.

Hello?

*Dusts off the space*
Hmm... maybe it's time to start talking again, yes?

My oh my what a long, strange trip this has been.

In the time that I took a break off from the blog - I started football, advanced my career (now a bona fide Project Manager), and have had some startling revelations about several aspects of my life.

Not sure how often I will write at the moment - probably will start off slowly, and then hopefully will be able to make this a habit.

If you catch yourself at my little end of this huge thing we call the internet - feel free to leave comments. I am open to having conversations with many friends - old and new.
