Potatoes obviously have flowers, so, do they make seeds? If they do, why don't we use them to plant new potatoes? I may not solve all of those mysteries, but I'm at least trying to find out what a potato seed looks like. I kept an eye on the blossoms, and where the blossoms once were, weird little berry-looking things formed:
I'm keeping an eye on them to see what happens next. ^_^
Aren't the blossoms pretty?

I took this picture in the late afternoon. I think the flowers had started to close up for the night. At any rate, they looked cooler that morning, but I didn't take a picture of them then.
The Nikko Blue hydrangea also looks cool right now:
And back to the veggies: I picked the first squash today! Here it is pre-picking:
It's about six inches long. Maybe I should've picked it yesterday. I haven't eaten it yet, so I don't know if it's really overripe.
Today I noticed that somebody ate the tops off of my carrots. I guess they had a decadent weekend - the tops were there when I checked on them Friday. Some of the chrysanthemum greens were missing, too. I sprinkled them both with chili powder.
I pulled up one of the carrots to see how big it is. It was tiny. It pulled out of the wet ground very easily, so I just put it right back!
I also checked on the potatoes. After digging and digging, I realized that there was only one clod-looking thing. I brushed it off, and it smooshed. It was a potato about the size of a marble. A quick sniff confirmed that it was a marble-sized rotten potato. Ugh. It has been really wet fo the past month, I hope all of my taters don't rot!

It worked so nicely for me that I bought stock within the company! Thanks Sarcasma!

Great news for the nation at a time when auto sales are on the rise in the state of California. We need more of this kind of positive news in every sector of the economy.
Alas, no, it hasn't been released, and probably never will be.
But if all the counties I've worked in (for the last 10+ yrs) except the one I live in stays with the current "SFR", what happens to my assignment????
Lois,
Individuals who received the so-called "long form" during Census 2000 would recognize the American Community Survey (ACS). The ACS is simply a new way of collecting the same detailed socioeconomic and housing characteristics data that have been part of the census for decades and, in some cases even, centuries. Unlike the old long form, the ACS is an ongoing survey; data are collected throughout the year and throughout the decade.
About 19 million households received the long form in 2000; about 3 million receive the ACS annually. Collecting the data throughout the decade allows for the release of updated statistics annually. Without the ACS, policymakers and others who require data for informed decisionmaking would have to rely on data that is years out of date. As part of the official census, the ACS is mandatory even if you are one of the relatively few households that receives the ACS in 2010.
Yep, I am in Georgia too. How is it determined who gets a form? I have USPS service and figured that for that reason I would receive mine. But I haven't received anything. No wonder my ancestors never appeared on the census. They had jobs and didn't have time to beg for a form.
Field Representatives will not be affected by the Reduction-in-Force when the six regional offices close at the end of 2012. The only change a Field Representative will experience is who they report to (a Field Supervisor), and which regional office they are associated with.
Question since this data will be used to assist in funding issues, might someone questions the results based on the fact that the data is suppose to be as of April 1st and people are mailing in their forms prior to that date. It probably won't change most people's answers but technically can you consider the data valid if it is mail before April 1. I noticed that Illinois had already received almost 50% of their responses. Maybe all census' are run this way I just don't know but if not this issue of dates could turn out to be a problem.
With the restructuring, will there be additional openings for field reps? If so, will RO staff be in line for those positions first? I worked in the local office in downtown Chicago and would certainly be interested in a field position if available.
It seems that everybody is into this kind of stuff lately. Don't really understand it though but thanks for trying to explain it. Appreciate you shedding light into this matter. Keep up your work.
Hey. I'm a freshman doing a research project/presentation on the increasing tuition cost of the university. Where can I find the budget propositions for the for the last five years through the Crimson website? Or do I need to go somewhere else?
Your help is appreciated!
The same problem happened in Chili, Santiago and Valparaiso. I think we will have more in a short future if we still facing the global warming problem.
Based on your statements "update their software... there is no physical item...", you are correct that no AES record is required in this scenario. The AES is used to track tangible goods that leave the United States. Even though there is a Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) license you still are not required to file the information in the AES because there is no tangible item. However, you must adhere to BIS's licensing requirements.
I wonder if all the seals are retrieved couldn't foreign entities, friend or foe counter fit the seals which would seem to be easier than currency. What is definitely called for here is a change in business process management of these seals.
Wow this article its really good. Thanks for sharing. I've been reading your blog for a while now, and i wont stop and also Very informative post, I'll definitely go look for more info about this. Thanks for sharing.

Ok...Am I reading this right? You're spending money to mail out forms to households that have already retuned forms? Why does that sound like a massive waste of time and money?
I never got one at all. This seems really weird since we have an address. Granted, we don't have local delivery, but we were assigned a "free" PO box at the local Post Office.
So, is it because my USPS address is a PO box?
I could understand that, since in larger areas PO Boxes aren't assigned, they're rented to those who have a traditional USPS mailing address. But here in this little hamlet..we don't. Shouldn't that be accounted for and forms sent anyway?
I hate the idea that my household hasn't been counted at all.
I think other website owners should take this site as an example , very clean and fantastic user friendly pattern . "No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted." by Aesop.
Sounds like you guys had a great time at the Huntington I'd love to see a picture of the bottle trees Rebecca mentioned!
Really happy to be associated with ACCE. Chambers are the front line of rebuilding the economic health and vitality of this country. It starts with jobs. Today and going forward, those jobs are created by entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurs are made stronger through their local and state chambers.
Nice work Chris Mead and ACCE.

"Caucasian", "Negroid", "Hispanic" and "Asian" are some of the many races. White, Brown, Black, etc, are colors. We are not colors. We are an ethnically diverse people. I was born in this country, as were my ancestors, back 5 generations on one side, and 3 on another. I think of myself as an AMERICAN, not as "British-American", "African-American", "Asian-American" or "Hispanic-American". I agree with the previous comments... RACE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS!!! And I too am totally disgusted by the fact that question #5 IN BOLD, places the Hispanic race above everyone else. If this isn't a racist tact, then what is? This is foul play, folks! There was NO NEED for this question to even BE on the 2010 US Census. Who made this terrible decision to place this question on the Census, to word it in this way, and to situate it where it is? It is one thing to seek out the demographics of the nation, but it is quite another to foment the perception of inequality and racism, in our own homeland, on our own soil! SHAME ON YOU!!!
Wasn't it determined at the last that it was suicide and if so maybe the talk by Mr. Groves should be adjusted.
How do you get a FORM WHEN YOU HAVE NEVER RECEIVED ANY? YOUR CALL IN NUMBER IS NOT OF ANY HELP.
I've noticed that which-hunters have often transformed FDR's famous quote into "a date that will live in infamy". Though the original version still gets more ghits for now.
Just wanna say that this is very helpful , Thanks for taking your time to write this. "We do not attract what we want, But what we are." by James Allen.
I want to know why the Feds need this info. How will it be used? I have received another version of this form that asked me for unbelievable questions, including the number of fertile women in my household. I don't see how or why this is any of Uncle Sam's business. Is this for a Eugenics program? In fact, isn't this how the Nazis were able to pin point the exact number of Jews and their names and addresses in 1930s and 1940s Germany? I am very afraid to fill this out esp. the part about my race and the race of my family members. Why are the Feds interested in this information? What are you planning to do with it?
I've no idea of the origins of that bit, but would like to take advantage of this rare opportunity to unload comments on nine or ten of your earlier posts when you stuck your fingers in your ears and forbade comments.
Hey, I just ran into this site 5 minutes ago and wannted to know if this has been released? I am very interested in trying it out. Seems like it would be a fun game to play.
Really good information can be found on web site.
Dejavu, my friend and I merely had a discussion about this 2 days ago.
Hello AES TEAM,
do you have any idea when the two character carrier IATA code issue will be resolved in AESDirect?
I don't think we will be releasing the source; the folks who did it are long graduated, and it was very very complicated. Tidying up the source for release would be too much work, ironically!
Bill,
I, too, apologize for the delay. I've been on a two month detail with the International Trade Administration for the National Export Initiative. Our blog team is currently revamping our marketing strategy to spread the word out. Our office just sent out a broadcast message to all of our email subscribers, we are going to get on twitter, and also have guest bloggers. We are also hoping that people pass us along to other users. Any other suggestions? Did NIST reply back?

I know this is really boring and you are skipping to the following remark, but I just wished to throw you a big many thanks you cleared up some things for me!
Being a die hard patriot fan, it is hard for me to acknowledge when they get flat out dominated in every singe aspect of the game. But I must tip my cap to Drew Brees, Sean Payton, and the rest of the New Orleans Saints. Last night represented one of the greatest games i have witnessed a quarterback play. This is saying a lot, seeing how i witness Tom Brady and Peyton Manning play every week.
The Patriot's defense would be the easiest to blame, but do they really deserve it? I thought they played pretty well, but there just isnt any possible way to defend against a perfectly thrown ball. And 18 out of 23 times last night, Brees delivered a perfectly thrown ball.
If Patriots fans want someone to blame, i suggest the coaching staff. Where was the pressure on brees? It seemed like he had an eturnity to scan the feild, pump fake one way, look to his 3rd or even 4th receiver, and deliver a strike downfeild without being touched every play. Clearly we couldn't even stop the saints offense when we werent sending pressure, so why not take a shot at pressuring Brees and causing a turnover. on the other sideline, Sean Payton coached a brilliant game defensively, rotating fom man to man, to a 2 man rush, to a 3 man rush, rolling to zone coverage. Brady had no idea what to expect.
India is doing a census and they are multiple times bigger than U.S. so we should not overreact to our minor glitches.
It sounds like this will change the way I export my products overseas. One question I have is how to find US Agents in another country?
